Colonel (ret.) Peter Herrly

PRESIDENT

Peter Herrly arrived in the cinematic world with a background defined by war, history, and music.

He was commissioned from the University of Notre Dame and served as a decorated combat infantryman in the Vietnam War. He then served as a personal staff advisor to General Powell during the Gulf War. His military awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Defense Distinguished Service Metal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

In addition to holding an advanced degree from the University of Wisconsin in history, his background as a West Point and War College professor of military history and strategy makes him an internationally-known business consultant specialising in using historical battlefields as the stage for high impact seminars.

This intimate knowledge of the visual and physical contexts of history's dramas led to his selection as a historical advisor and scenarist for numerous award-winning media productions, such as the A&E Fox film The Lost Battalion and the IMAX documentary D-Day: Normandy 1944. As president of Paris-based Blue Line Films, he has researched, written, and produced documentaries on World War II to critical acclaim, including more than twenty short subjects for the multimedia screens in the Utah Beach Museum in Normandy. His short film production of Kiss & Kill was shown at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and among its many selections was awarded the top prize in South Korea’s short film festival.

He currently resides in Paris, France and continues to play the bass guitar — his other lifelong passion besides film and history.
